I've been making seaweed with "Solvy" and thread. "Solvy" is the name of a brand of water-soluble material that can be stitched with free-motion machine embroidery. When it is placed in water the material dissolves and only the stitches are left.

I sew the small pieces of "thread" seaweed onto the surfaces of quilted and embroidered mixed-media textile art. The seaweed makes great surface texture.
